Questions
Who is USA Meats?
USA Meats is a nationwide wholesale supplier of beef, pork, poultry, and seafood for foodservice, distributors, and retail buyers. The business is USA Meats LLC, 3501 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20010. Sales is at sales@usameats.com, (213) 755-8165, and (773) 715-4264.
How does a wholesale order work?
Send the product, cut, pack, grade, estimated volume, delivery ZIP code, and timing. We match the request through partner plants and distribution networks, then you confirm pricing and availability and we coordinate cold-chain delivery. The pallet form asks for your name, phone, and the product. Email and a note are optional.
What counts as a completed meat delivery, and what should buyers do when cases arrive unsigned or left unattended?
A delivery is not complete until a named manager signs for it after checking case count, seals and product temperature. Fresh meat should arrive at 40°F or below (frozen at 0°F or below). Cases left unattended in a stairwell, dock or hallway overnight are a cold-chain and liability problem: quarantine or refuse them, photograph the labels, pack dates, lot codes and a probe reading, and document the drop on the bill of lading before anyone signs. Put receiving rules in writing (who may sign, signature required, no drop-and-go, temp checks). Claim credit or a replacement with the case paperwork. We quote rib and loin items by IMPS number (for example 109 roast-ready rib or 189A full tenderloin) and ship with scheduled, signed delivery so the quote, the pick ticket and the cases match.
Where should a new food truck or small BBQ business buy meat if it can't meet distributor minimums yet?
Below a pallet, a local cash-and-carry or foodservice supplier is usually the practical choice, because you can buy by the case or the piece. Once you are moving pallets of brisket, pork butts or chicken each week, buying direct by the pallet can lower your price per pound. USA Meats sells full pallets only, with live per-pound prices on each board, so you can compare when your volume grows.
How do I ask a meat supplier for bulk prices when I don't know my volume yet?
Estimate your weekly pounds for each item, then ask for prices at that volume. A rough number is fine. Name the cut or spec (an IMPS/NAMP number if you know it), the grade, the pack, fresh or frozen, the delivery ZIP code and how often you will order. Our boards already show per-pound prices for full pallets, so you can budget before you call. Start with a quote request, and adjust your volume once you have sales data.
How can a small grocery store or butcher shop buy beef, pork and chicken direct from a wholesaler?
Buying boxed product by the pallet from a wholesale distributor is the direct wholesale path, compared with cash-and-carry stores. USA Meats ships nationwide in full pallets: pork is delivered (Delivered Illinois on the board, your state's price in the landed-cost calculator), and poultry is delivered. The other boards are priced on the terms shown on each board. Alaska and Hawaii are quoted by sales. Check the live boards for per-pound prices. To set up an account, send the items you carry, your weekly volume and your delivery ZIP code to sales@usameats.com.
What documents come with a wholesale meat quote: spec sheets, USDA paperwork, case weights, pallet configuration?
Ask for them with the quote. We can provide a product spec sheet, USDA inspection documentation, case weight and pack, pallet configuration, country of origin and lead time for each item. Send your required specifications, such as IMPS/NAMP number, grade, lean point or count size, and we will confirm compliance item by item before you order.
Do you sell only one packer's product, or several?
Several. We source beef, pork, poultry and seafood from multiple USDA-inspected plants and partner suppliers, so we can quote by specification, grade and origin rather than one label. Tell us your current spec and the volume you buy each week, and we will quote it delivered to your city.
What should I check when a meat delivery arrives?
Check the delivery against the purchase order and the bill of lading before you sign. Confirm the case count, the item or IMPS number on each case, intact seals and packaging, and product temperature: fresh at 40°F or below, frozen solid. Weigh catch-weight cases if the invoice depends on weight. Note any shortage, wrong item, damage or temperature problem on the bill of lading, take photos with the case label, and report it right away.
